Message from Wilma J. Grey, Director

Welcome to The Newark Public Library. I invite you to learn more about the The Library's collections, programs, and services. The Library’s staff will assist you in making optimum use of all these resources for work, study, and personal enjoyment. Visit us in person at the historic Main Library in the Downtown Arts District or at any of our ten Community Branches. Or reach out to us by calling 973-733-7784 or emailing reference@npl.org.

It is a pleasure to work in an institution that has been steeped in the culture and history of the City of Newark for more than a century, but at the same time is an institution that is forward looking.

As the Library continues to provide a host of traditional services and programs for its patrons, it is also embarking on a path of progress and change that will ensure an information-rich environment for the community, well into the future.

I hope you will take advantage of the many programs and exhibitions that The Library presents. Some of them will surely interest you. I do hope you will visit us often.
